Portugal 13th largest investor in Brazil

Brasilia, Brazil, 20 Dec – Portugal occupies 13th spot in the ranking of biggest foreign inventors in Brazil, a list topped by the United States (US$ 3.8 billion) followed by the Netherlands (US$ 2.8 billion), Mexico (US$ 1.6 billion) and France (US$ 1.3 billion), according to official statistics.

Brazil’s central bank released figures showing that Portuguese firms invested US$ 253 million in Brazil until the end of November, a drop of nearly 50 percent compared to the same period in 2004.

Direct foreign investment in Latin America’s powerhouse economy in 2005 is set to reach US$ 16 billion, according to Brazil’s central bank. (macauhub)
