23 December 2005

Cidade da Praia, Cape Verde, 23 Dec – The state of Pernambuco in Brazil wants to boost its exports to Cape Verde and also use to islands as a goods distribution point for West Africa, an official has said.

Doménico Trindade, head of Pernambuco’s investment agency, proposed on Thursday that business links between his state and Cape Verde should be strengthened by the creation of a direct air link by TACV, the Cape Verdean national carrier.

Such a link with the West African archipelago would also allow increased export trade to West African states. Pernambuco is seeking to boost its exports to Cape Verde from the current US$ 3 million to US$ 20 million. (macauhub)
