Florianopolis, Brazil, 29 Dec – Portugal’s Somelos textiles group will open a new factory in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina in February 2006, Portugal Digital reported Thursday.

Somelos Tecidos do Brasil, the Brazilian subsidiary of Somelos, is investing US$ 8.5 million in the new factory in Brusque that will have 150 employees.

At the close of last year, the Somelos group comprised 14 companies and employed nearly 1,500 workers. (macauhub)
