Portugal’s Visabeira group to invest 34 million euros in Mozambique hotel projects

Maputo, Mozambique, 29 Dec – The Visabeira group from Portugal is investing over 34 million euros in various hotel undertakings in Mozambique over the next five years, according to a bilateral chamber of commerce.

The latest news roundup of the Portugal-Mozambique Chamber of Commerce cites Paulo Varela, chairman of the board of Visabeira-Mozambique, as saying that nine projects will be undertaken at the five hotels already operated by the company in Mozambique.

Among these schemes is a luxury ranch at Lake Niassa in northern Mozambique, where Visabeira will build a private airport, an eco-tourism reserve and a game-hunting park.

The Indy Hotel in Maputo will also be modernized by the Portuguese company to give it 150 beds and new hotel is to be built at Pemba, capital of the northern province of Cabo Delgado.

Besides operating in Mozambique’s hotel and catering sectors, Visabeira has interests in cable television and construction businesses in the southeast African nation. (macauhub)
