5 January 2006

Macau, China, 5 Jan – The export clout of Macau’s textiles sector continued to decline in the first 11 months of 2005, falling to 76.8 percent of total foreign sales compared to the 80.2 percent registered over the same period in 2004, according to official figures.

Macau’s textile and garment sector saw a fall in foreign sales from 16.5 million patacas from January to November 2004 to 13.5 million patacas in the same period last year, figures from the territory’s statistics and census services show.

The principal markets for Macau’s products continue to be in Asia, with mainland China and Hong Kong accounting for 52.7 of these exports. (macauhub)
