Leaded gasoline withdrawn March from pumps in Mozambique

5 January 2006

Maputo, Mozambique, 5 Jan – Sales of leaded gasoline will cease from March, the head of the Mozambican Petroleum Import agency (IMOPETRO) has said.

Manuel Braga told state news agency AIM that the measure was taking place two months later than then December 2005 deadline, laid down by the Southern African Development Community, due to high levels of existing fuel stocks.

IMOPETRO, a private company with a monopoly on fuel imports, is currently mixing leaded and unleaded fuel to reduce these stocks, he added. (macauhub)
