Portuguese company to begin digital mapping of Guinea-Bissau
Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, 11 Jan – EDIA of Portugal is to start a project to digitally map Guinea-Bissau and train local cartographers after winning an international tender launched by the Bissau government.
The Portuguese firm said in a statement that it would carry out a pilot project over 18 months in Guinea’s 12 main cities and towns over a 6,000-hectare area.
EDIA will create orthophoto maps to assist decisions on soil use and also draw up a detailed street map of the Guinean capital.
The Portuguese firm will also train a group of local cartographers to produce a variety of maps and plans based on the digitalized data. (macauhub)
