Praia, Cape Verde, 17 Jan – Cape Verde is the 12th best place in the world in which to buy a vacation home, ranked ahead of Italy’s Tuscany region, in a list drawn up by British television station Channel 4, in which Portugal’s Algarve region has top spot.

For Channel 4, Cape Verde has, “fantastic beaches, an extraordinary climate and is excellent for water sports,” as well as having good prices. The archipelago is one of only two non-European countries included in Channel 4’s list.

Cape Verde is ranks ahead of Tuscany and Spain’s Costa del Sol and just after Spain’s Barcelona and Normandy, in France.

Tourism and investment in hotel projects is one of the Cape Verde government’s priorities for developing the country’s economy and increase its international profile, particularly that of Sal and Boavista islands, where most tourist developments are located.

The Channel 4 study places Portugal’s Algarve region in first place ahead of South Africa’s Cape Town and Turkey.

Apart from its proximity and easy access to the UK the Algarve has a good natural landscape and low prices as compared with the European Union average, Channel 4 said. (macauhub)
