China’s largest chain of white goods stores opens branch in Macau

Beijing, China, 20 Feb – Gome, China’s largest white goods sales chain, is set to open its first store in Macau in march, a company official said in Beijing Friday.

“We plan to open two or three stores in Macau in 2006,” said Li Juntao, executive director of the company’s procurement center.

Li also said that the stores in Macau would maintain its low margin policies in order to “better serve its customers.”

Gome has opened 13 stores in Hong Kong since 2003, with sales totaling 1.5 billion yuan, representing 15 percent of the market.

Gome Electrical Applicances Holding Ltd. This year plans to add 200 stores to its network of 460 stores in order to compete with other large Chinese chains such as Suning and Paradise and the arrival of international rivals such as Best Buy. (macauhub)
