Luanda, Angola, 23 Feb – The Angolan government approved the acquisition Thursday of fishing and supervision vessels by the Fisheries Ministry from three foreign companies.
A statement from the cabinet did not specify how many boats would be built under the terms of the approved contract, nor did it specify the amounts contracted with each company.
The government statement said only that around 20,000 direct jobs and a further 100,000 indirect jobs would be created as a result of the contracts.
The Fisheries Ministry signed contracts with Navimor International, China National Machinery and Equipment Import and Export Corporation and the Peniche Naval Docks, Portugal.
Thursday’s meeting also saw the approval of a US$30 million financing contract between Fisheries Ministry and Banco Espírito Santo Angola (BESA), of Portuguese group Espírito Santo for buying the fishing vessels. (macauhub)
