Luanda, Angola, 28 Feb – Reparation work on a 250 kilometer stretch of road between the provinces of Kwanza-Norte and Kwanza-Sul, in Angola, officially began Monday when the concession was granted to the respective contractors by Angola’s Road Institute (INEA).
INEA’s national director, Joaquim Sebastião, said that the stretch of road had been divided into six lots, in order to make it possible for the construction companies involved to be able to finish the work with «in the stipulated deadlines.
According to Sebastião, the project, estimated to cost US$74 million, is being financed by the Angolan government and is due to be finished by March 2007.
The road linking the municipal area of Alto-Dondo to the municipal area of Waku-Kungo is part of an itinerary linking the provinces of Kwanza-Norte, Kwanza-Sul and Huambo, crossing what is considered to be one of the largest industrial and agricultural hubs in northern Angola. (macauhub)
