Royal Jordanian Airlines buys seven Embraer 195 airplanes

São José dos Campos, Brazil, 23 March – Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer and Royal Jordanian Airlines signed a contract Wednesday for the acquisition of seven Embraer 195 airplanes with delivery beginning in the fourth quarter of 2006, company officials said.

The Embraer 195 will be configured to carry up to 100 passengers and the planes are expected to be used on routes in the Middle East, Africa and Europe.

Royal Jordanian was the first Arab airline to join the Oneworld group and the first air carrier to use the Embraer 195 in the Middle East.

At the end of December 2005, 118 aircraft from the new Embraer 170/190 “family” of aircraft had been delivered to airlines in Europe, the Middle East, North America and Central Asia, particularly China..

At December 31 2005, Embraer 170/190 had 440 firm orders and 362 options. (macauhub)
