Chinese ambassador to Cape Verde visits Sao Nicolau island

Ribeira Brava, Cape Verde, 07 April – China’s ambassador to Cape Verde, Sun Rongmao, finished a three-day visit to the island of Sao Nicolau, with the aim of assessing the development and investment potential of the island, the local press reported.

Quoted by Cape Verde news agency Inforpress, Sun said during a visit to the town of Ribeira Brava that the mission aimed to “study and research” the local reality, without giving details, and said he was satisfied with the meetings he had had with the local authorities, which had made it possible to assess, “difficulties and needs.”

As well as the island’s largest municipal area, the Chinese delegation also visited the village of Cachaço, the fishing towns of Carrical and Preguiça, as well as the Chanzinha Municipal Stadium and the Ribeira Brava valley.

Amílcar Spencer Lopes, president of the Ribeira Brava municipal council, told the press that his area had “capital that should be made use of,” particularly historical, as well as “economic potential” to be explored. (macauhub)
