Guangzhou, China, 27 April – The Chinese economy is forecast to grow by 8 percent this year, with consumption, investment and foreign trade maintaining their current levels, the country’s Trade Ministry said.
The forecast was included in the Ministry’s Spring report on China’s foreign trade published during the China Exports Fair, which took place in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province.
The report said that the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2005 was US$2.26 trillion, a year on year increase of 9.9 percent.
For the first quarter of 2006, GDP was US$537.78 billion, a 10.2 percent increase on the same year ago period. (macauhub)
