Lisbon, Portugal, 06 June – Portuguese export promotion agency, ICEP Portugal and its Macau counterpart, IPIM – Instituto de Promoção do Comércio e do Investimento de Macau are organizing a meeting between Portuguese and Macau business people on June 22, as part of a visit to Lisbon by the head of the Macau government, Edmund Ho.
A source from ICEP told Macauhub that the event would involve around 90 business people, 40 of which would be part of Ho’s delegation, which is due to visit Lisbon between June 21 and 24 and will be Ho’s second official visit to the Portuguese capital.
Ho visited Portugal in 2000 soon after Portugal handed over administration of Macau to the People’s Republic of China in December 1999.
It is expected that the most represented sectors at the Business Meeting will be banking, commerce, energy, telecommunications and tourism.
According to figures from ICEP Portugal, last year the Special Administrative Region of Macau was Portugal’s 71st largest customer and 142nd supplier.
On his visit to Lisbon, Ho is scheduled to meet with the Portuguese president, Aníbal Cavaco Silva, Prime Minister José Sócrates and parliamentary president, Jaime Gama.
Beforehand, from June 19 to 20, Ho will be in Brussels where he will meet with the president of the European Commission, Portugal’s José Manuel Durão Barroso.
Recently ICEP announced that it would organize meetings with Portuguese business people on exporting to China, which would take place between July 17 and 21.(macauhub)
