Chinese Prime Minister to visit Angola in June, Macau newspaper reports

Macau, China, 08 June – China’s Prime Minister, Wen Jiabao, is scheduled to visit Angola in June accompanied by the foreign minister, Li Zhaoxing, Economy Minister Bo Xilai and the president of Exim Bank, Li Ruogu, Macau newspaper Ponto Final reported Thursday.

The newspaper, which cites diplomatic sources, said that the Chinese mission would have meetings with Angolan authorities and evaluate Chinese investments in the country.

In Luanda, weekly newspaper Agora said in its latest edition that loans from the People’s Republic of China to Angola may already have reached a total of US$6 billion.

The weekly also reported that the new Luanda international airport would be built by Chinese companies at an estimated cost of US$8 billion.

Agora magazine reminded its readers that Chinese companies were refurbishing the railroads at Luanda, Benguela and Namibe and could be called upon to build extensions of the railroads to the North (Uige and Zaire). (macauhub)
