Luanda, Angola, 27 June – Chinese state company China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), which is rebuilding 371 kilometers of the national road linking Kifangondo (Luanda), Caxito (Bengo), Uíge and Negage (Uíge) in Angola, is due to finish work in June 2008, officials told Angolan news agency Angpop.
The project, work on which began in December 2005, is estimated to cost US$211 million.
So far 140 kilometers of the road have been de-mined, which is the first stage of work required for rebuilding to go ahead.
The rebuilding project, which involves over 3,000 Angolan and Chinese workers, includes 12 bridges, 10 of which will be new, and also requires over 200 aqueducts to be built.
One of the main aims of the reconstruction of this road is to re-launch agricultural activities in the region. (macauhub)
