4 July 2006

Maputo, Mozambique, 04 July – Re/Max, the multinational real estate company, has said it is set to open an office in Maputo, Mozambique’s capital city, which would be the company’s first in the East African country.

The company’s director for Mozambique, Steve Snider said that the office would “be focused on residential property, and include a division for property rental.”

“The Mozambican economy is going through a period of expansion, and this is the ideal time to open an office,” Snider said in a statement issued by the company.

Set up in 1973, the US company, which is specialised in real estate transaction, is present in 63 countries and has over 6,450 offices.

The company’s extensive network of contacts makes it possible to “have good access to buyers and sellers, in comparison to other companies in the sector,” said the company director for Southern Africa, Bruce Swain.

The size of the real estate sector in Mozambique is currently unknown as most transactions are informal. (macauhub)
