Finland supports development program in Mozambique

Maputo, Mozambique, 04 July – Finland plans to grant 5 million euros to Mozambqiue to support the development of Zambezia province between 2006 and 2010, the Finnish embassy in Maputo said.

This support, which is part of Finnish support for rural and agricultural development in Mozambique, aims to back activities that contribute to reducing poverty, particularly poor women, and which lead to sustainable management of natural resources.

The first phase of this project will take place in the district of Mocuba in the heart of Zambezia, after which it will be widened to other areas.

The statement from the embassy added that, within the scope of the policy to transfer knowledge to local communities, this project would be set in place in cooperation with the private sector and non-governmental organizations. (macauhub)
