Maputo, Mozambique, 05 July – The period for registering a company in Mozambique could be reduced from two weeks to one day following the computerization of the process, the Mozambican government said Tuesday.
The computer system for registering companies was launched by the Minsiters of Justice, Esperança Machavela, and of Industry and Commerce, António Fernando.
The new computerized registration system is part of Mozambique’s new Commercial Code and will reduce bureaucracy in the country, which is one of the main complaints investors have about the country.
The system will initially be available in the capital, Maputo and in the cities of Beira and Nampula, and by the end of the year it is expected to be available in the remaining eight provinces in the country.
Machavela said that the Ministry of Justice would work together with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, which would be responsible for the simplification of requirements, whilst her Ministry would make company registrations official. (macauhub)
