Macau, China, 20 July – Macau’s gaming industry obtained gross revenues of patacas 25.4 billion from January to June 2006, a year-on-year increase of 12.9 percent, officials have announced.
The Directorate of Inspection and Coordination of Gaming (DICJ) said Wednesday that Macau’s casinos netted patacas 25.01 billion in the first half of the year, up 13.9 percent from last year, and the remaining patacas 478 million in gross gaming earnings came from horse and dog racing an lotteries.
At the end of June there were 21 casinos in Macau, 16 of these belonging to Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, four to Galaxy and one operated by Venetian Macau. Another four casinos are due to open by the end of the year. (macauhub)
