Maputo, Mozambique, 21 July – Mozambican airline LAM is the first national company to market its products and services under the “Made in Mozambique” brand that was created at the beginning of the year.
Olga Gomes, head of the Maputo’s national products promotion agency, told the “Notícias” daily newspaper that in addition to LAM, the National Song and Dance Company has also been authorized to use the brand and logo.
Gomes, whose department is part of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said 40 other firms have requested use of the national trade mark, showing the “great interest” in a project that can boost the regional presence of national companies.
The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is committed to create a single market by 2012 , heightening the importance of a national brand for Mozambican products , added Gomes.
“It is a project that raises awareness of state sector managers to give preference to national products,” the Maputo official said. (macauhub)
