Macau’s consumer prices rise by 5.71 percent in a year

Macau, China, 24 July – Consumer prices in Macau increased 5.71 percent in June year on year, the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau said, adding that in monthly terms the rise was of 0.43 percent.

In May there were more significant increases in the classes of Food and non-alcoholic drinks, Transport and Recreation and culture and decreases in the classes of Communication and Housing and Fuel.

The inflation rate, or variation in the average index of the 12 months ended in June, in relation to the previous 12 months, was set at 5.54 percent.

Since January of this year the Consumer Price Index has been published based on the new period of July 2004 to June 2005. (macauhub)
