Fradique de Menezes re-elected as president of Sao Tome and Principe with 60.03 pct of vote

Sao Tome, Sao Tome and Principe, 01 Aug – Fradique de Menezes was re-elected as president of Sao tome and Principe Sunday with 60.03 percent of the vote, according to provisional results of the presidential election announced Monday.

His opponents Patrice Trovoada had 38.5 percent of the vote, and Nilo Guimarães had 0.59 percent, according to the result published by the country’s National Electoral Commission (CEN).

In absolute terms, Fradique de Menezes had 34,687 votes, Patrice Trovoada 22,246, and Nilo Guimarães 340 votes.

The current president, Fradique de Menezes, won in every electoral district in the country except for Caué, which was won by Patrice Trovoada. Overseas the victory was also given to de Menezes, except for Sao Tome voters living in Angola, who also gave victory to Patrice Trovoada. (macauhub)
