Lisbon, Portugal, 17 Aug – Groundfource Portugal renewed its ground handling contract with Cape Verdean airline TACV and signed its first contract with TACV Cargo, hoping to generate 2.5 million euros in revenues from these deals by 2009.
“These contracts are of great importance for Groundforce Portugal, as a well respected company has confirmed its preference for Groundforce Portugal as a handling agent”, the company said a statement reported by Jornal de Negocios online.
The contract signed with TACV – Transportes Aéreos de Cabo Verde is valid until February 28, 2009 and includes providing full handling services for flights to Lisbon, Porto and Faro.
The contract signed with TACV Cargo is valid for the same period and for the same locations.
Groundforce Portugal, which took on the handling services that were owned by TAP Air Portugal, has as its shareholders Grupo Globalia, which owns the second largest handling company in the Spanish market, with a 50.1 percent stake; TAP SGPS, the holding company of Portugal’s flag carrier, with 43.9 percent; and Portugália–Companhia Portuguesa de Transportes Aéreos S.A., with 6 percent.
