Lisbon, Portugal, 24 Aug – New orders in construction and public works in Portugal fell 3.4 percent in the second quarter, against the same period of 2005, the Portuguese National Statistics Institute (INE) said.
The year on year variation of new orders was 1.1 percentage points lower than the figure posted for the previous quarter, INE said, explaining that the trend was due to the poor performance of the engineering works sector.
Engineering works orders fell 6.7 percent against the year-ago period.
Against the previous quarter, orders increased 2.8 percent, but the annual average change was of 0.2 percent less. (macauhub)
