Maputo, Mozambique, 25 Aug – The 42nd Maputo International fair (Facim), due to take begin next Monday, already has at least 583 participants confirmed to attend, including Mozambican and foreign exhibitors, Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias reported.
The president of the fairs, exhibitions and congress management company, SOGEX, Américo Magaia, told the Mozambican press that the Mozambican companies that had confirmed their attendance at FACIm/2006 are from the country’s 11 provinces.
“This is very important for us, at a time when the country is making efforts for Mozambican companies to have the benefit of the production and sale of national products, and that is why we have moved ahead with the “Made in Mozambique” campaign, which is aimed at making consumers aware of the need to consume Mozambican products,” Magaia said.
The president of the board of the Mozambican export agency, IPEX, João Macaringue, also cited by Notícias, said that the agency’s pavilion at the fair would be based on the “made in Mozambique” theme.
“All the country’s provinces will be represented there, by companies that aim not only to sell in the national market but also internationally,” he said.
FACIM/2006 opens its doors next Monday (August 28) and will run until September 3.
The participation of 13 countries has already been confirmed (Portugal, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Finland, Spain, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Norway, Swaziland, Malawi and China, through the special administrative region of Macau).
Amongst the exhibitors there are also foreign businesspeople who decided to take part in FACIM individually, who are from Tanzania, Kenya, Bangladesh and Taiwan. (macauhub)
