Maputo, Mozambique, 29 Aug – Sogex, the exhibition, fair and congress company responsible for promoting Mozambique’s Maputo International Fair (FACIM) has been unable to satisfy the demand for spaces by potential exhibitors, who close to the beginning of the fair wanted to exhibit their products.
The information was given to daily newspaper Notícias by a Sogex director whilst reporters watched some exhibitors finishing the preparation of their stands at the fair.
This year’s FACIM opened Monday with companies from 13 countries and territories taking part – Portugal, Germany, South Africa, Brazil, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Norway, Spain, Finland, Swaziland, Canada, Malawi and Macau – four fewer than took part in the 2005 fair and over 500 exhibitors overall.
Portugal is occupying the largest pavilion at the fair, with an area of 1400 square meters.
Amongst the exhibitors there are also foreign businesspeople who decided to take part in FACIM individually, who are from Tanzania, Kenya, Bangladesh and Taiwan.
FACIM is due to close on Sunday, September 3. (macauhub)
