Maputo International Fair attracts 6,000 visitors in first two days

Maputo, Mozambique, 01 Sept – This year’s Maputo International Fair (FACIM 2006) received some 6,000 visitors in its first two days, the exhibition’s sales director told Mozambican newspaper, Notícias.

This number of visits represents a 45 percent increase on the number recorded in the same period of last year’s fair, Juvenal Mabote said.

Mabote said that usually, “the biggest influx of visitors,” occurred in the last few days, and thus its was expected that the fair, which opened Monday and closes Sunday, will receive between 45,000 and 55,000 visitors.

This year’s FACIM opened Monday with companies from 13 countries and territories taking part – Portugal, Germany, South Africa, Brazil, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Norway, Spain, Finland, Swaziland, Canada, Malawi and Macau – four fewer than took part in the 2005 fair and over 500 exhibitors overall.

Amongst the exhibitors there are also foreign businesspeople who decided to take part in FACIM individually, who are from Tanzania, Kenya, Bangladesh and Taiwan. (macauhub)
