19 September 2006

Sao Filipe, Cape Verde, 19 Sept – Luxembourg plans to finance a project to expand the water distribution and sanitation system on Fogo Island in Cape Verde, estimated to cost 5.5 million euros, Cape Verde’s news agency Inforpress reported.

With the aim of setting the details of the contract with the region’s inter-municipal water company, Aguabrava, a Luxembourg technical mission Monday began a week-long visit to the island, Inforpress said.

José Rodrigues, director of Aguabrava, said that the project had already been approved in Luxembourg, and that it should begin to be carried out at the end of 2006 or beginning of 2007.

The project aims to boost, within three or four years, the technical and financial capacity of Aguabrava, taking into account improvement of water supply conditions on the islands of Fogo and Brava. (macauhub)
