Cidade da Praia, Cape Verde, 21 Sept – A delegation from the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) is visiting Cape Verde this week for contacts aimed to bring closer ties between the two nations, officials said.

The CPAFFC delegation, led by its deputy chairman, Wang Yunze, was welcomed Wednesday by Praia’s parliamentary speaker, Aristides Lima, and will also meet Cape Verdean lawmakers.

The Chinese delegation will visit the recently opened dam on Santiago Island, a project funded by Beijing to the tune of US$ 4.4 million and the islands’ first such facility aimed to develop an area inhabited by around 33,000 people.

Beijing has also funded the building of Praia’s legislature and government building. A parliamentary delegation visited China this year to mark the 30th anniversary of relations between the two countries. (macauhub)
