Macau government wants to continue to boost its role as cooperation platform

Macau, China, 25 Sept – The Macau government wants to continue to make the most of the advantages it offers as a services platform for promoting economic and trade cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries fair, the head fo the government, Edmund Ho said Sunday.

“We will continue to boost the unique advantages Macau has, fulfilling its role as a platform, providing quality services specifically for Portuguese-speaking countries and our sister cities and provinces in China and contribute in a solid way to the commercial and economic interchange between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries,” he said.

Ho was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries and reminded his audience of Macau’s economic and social development over the last few years highlighting the fact that the Special Administrative Region had “economic stability” and rapid economic development.

Ho added that this development and prosperity was supported by the Chinese central government and was based on the principles of, “one country, two systems,” “Macau governed by its people,” and a “high level of autonomy,” concepts which made it possible for the beginning of Chinese reunification with the return of Macau and Hong Kong to Chinese sovereignty.

The head of the Macau government also said he was happy with the success of the Forum which he called a “new platform” for boosting economic cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries. (macauhub)
