4 October 2006

Macau, China, 04 Oct – Macau’s 22 casinos had gross receipts of patacas 4.4 billion in September, an increase of 15.7 percent over the same month in 2005, Tribuna de Macau reported Wednesday.

Citing industry sources, the newspaper added that Macau’s gaming sector continues to be dominated by Stanley Ho’s Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, although this casino operator’s market share has dropped to 58 percent.

The Venetian continues in second place with 20 percent of gaming receipts, followed by Galaxy with 15 percent and Wynn Resorts (Macau) with 8 percent, despite this casino opening on 6 September.

The boosted gaming revenues are attributed to increased numbers of visitors to Macau, particularly from mainland China.

With official accounts for September now closed, total revenues for Macau’s casinos for the month reached patacas 40.1 billion.

Total gross revenues from Macau’s casinos for 2005 reached patacas 44.725 billion patacas. (macauhub)
