Angola to have coastal under-sea telecommunications cable

Luanda, Angola, 09 Oct – Angola’s Council of Ministers has approved the contract for installing a coastal submarine telecommunications cable covering six provinces signed between Angola Telecom and South Africa’s Ericsson, Angolan news agency Angpop reported.

Angpop reported that the approval had been published and that the project would be implemented along the coast of the provinces of Cabinda, Zaire, Luanda, Kwanza-Sul, Benguela and Namibe.

In another decision, the cabinet approved a financing agreement for the implementation of the project, for a value in kwanzas of the equivalent of US$78.38 million, and authorized the Finance Minister to sign the protocol between the Angolan government and Banco de Poupança e Crédito. (macauhub)
