Mozambique’s Science Minister visits China to boost cooperation

Maputo, Mozambique, 10 Oct – Mozambique’s Minister of Science and Technology, Venâncio Massingue, Monday began a ten-day working visit to China to boost cooperation in the area of science and technology, officials said.

During his stay, Massingue will meet with research institutions and government authorities to discuss the possibility of setting up joint research programs for technology.

Massingue will also discuss with the Chinese authorities the issue of innovation and technology transfer, in accordance with the priorities defined in the Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy recently defined by the Mozambican government.

The Mozambican minister will also take part in the meeting of the Hi-Tech Fair Organization Committee in Shanghai and in the Annual Forum on Computerization of Cities in the Asia-Pacific Region.

The latter meeting will be themed “Information and Communication Technology for improving quality of life: The role of governors.”

A statement from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCT) of Mozambique, published in Maputo, said that the meeting would highlight several areas: low cost construction, agro-processing, information technologies, science and technology parks, as well as the development of human resources in the science sector.
