27 October 2006

Lisbon, Portugal, 27 Oct – Portugal’s product distribution centers in Chin and Angola are expected to begin operating next year, a spokesperson for Portuguese export promotion agency, ICEP said in Lisbon Thursday.

The protocol between ICEP and its Angolan counterpart was signed in April this year, as part of the visit by Portuguese prime minister, José Sócrates to the country, and the agreement with China’s Nam Kwong partners was signed in September.

In terms of distribution center projects in the United States and Russia, ICEP is in the preparatory stage of work although no date has been set for them to open.

The virtual product distribution center in Brazil is the only one that is up and running and was opened by Portuguese prime minister José Sócrates in August.

The center distributes products to all areas of Brazil, dealing with logistics, tax and operational issues.

The creation of these five Portuguese product distribution centers is part of the policy for internationalization of Portuguese companies and widening the country’s export base as defined in the state budget for 2007. (macauhub)
