Guangdong’s GDP rises 14.1 pct between January and September

Guangzhou, China, 27 Oct- Guangdong’s gross domestic product (GDP) increased 14.1 percent to 1.815 trillion yuan (US$226.9 billion) between January and September this year, according to the latest figures from the Statistics Bureau of Guangdong province

A Statistics Bureau spokesperson said that the GDP increase was due to investment in agriculture, industry and real estate. In the first three quarters investment in agriculture, industry and real estate increased 40.7 percent to 100.781 billion yuan (US$12.59 billion), 21.5 percent to 206.069 billion yuan (US$25.75 billion) and 19.6 percent to 117.534 billion yuan (US$14.68 billion), respectively.

He said that Guangdong’s revenues increased 14.5 percent in the first three quarters to 372.195 billion yuan (US$46.52 billion), in which the tax revenue increased 21.0 percent to 136.939 billion yuan (US$17.11 billion).

Apart from those investment increases in agriculture, industry and real estate, consumer spending also contributed to Guangdong’s economy. Between January and September this year, total retail sales in Guangdong reached 669.662 billion yuan (US$ 83.7 billion), a year-on-year increase of 15.8 percent. (macauhub)
