Danish bank grants loan to Mozambique for telecommunications

Maputo, Mozambique, 17 Nov – The Mozambican government and Denmark’s Nordea Bank signed a financing agreement of around 15 million euros Thursday in Maputo, for development of fiber optic telecommunications in seven Mozambican districts, officials said.

The agreement for granting the loan was signed by the Mozambican finance minister, Manuel Chang and Nordea’s deputy chairman, Egil Rindorf.

According to Mozambique’s Finance Ministry, the loan will be used in Phase II of the National Fiber Optics Transmission-Links Network between Cuamba-Lichinga, Nampula-Pemba and Chimoio-Tete-Caia, as part of the Program for Development of Infrastructures in the Transport and Communications Sector.
