Luanda to get improved water supply in German-funded project

27 November 2006

Luanda, Angola, 27 Nov – Work to install a 50-centimeter-wide water pipeline to link a water treatment plant at Kikuxi with a new distribution center at Viana got underway last week in a project funded by the German government.

Luanda’s EPAL water utility said the infrastructure project was valued at euros 3.2 million and would take 10 months to complete.

The new water main will replace an older one that is sill in use, but “in an advanced state of dilapidation”, said EPAL, and the improved supply will respond to growing domestic and industrial demand in Viana, near Luanda.

Brazil’s Odebrecht construction group is carrying out the project. (macauhub)
