European aid to Angola rises to 170 million euros in 10th Development Fund

Luanda, Angola, 11 Dec – The 10th European Development Fund will donate 170 million euros to Angola, an increase of 30 million euros, European commissioner Louis Michel said Friday in Luanda.

“Angola can also access other sector funds, which means that, in total, the European contribution to the country’s development could be over 200 million euros,” said the European commissioner responsible for development and humanitarian aid.

The three main areas for European support o Angola are social and human development, rural development and boosting the capacity of the State.

At a press conference held in the Angolan capital, the European commissioner noted that the EU over the next year would support a program to improve Angolans’ access to information, estimated to cost 3 million euros.

As part of his visit to Angola, he signed a financing agreement with the Agriculture Ministry for a 10 million-euro program aimed at the provinces in the center and south of Angola. (macauhub)
