Lisbon, Portugal, 14 Dec – Portuguese companies affiliated to the National Public Works Contractors Association (ANEOP) have adopted a code of conduct, which specifically, “rejects practices that may falsify the economic process,” officials said.
The code, presented Wednesday in Lisbon, sets out standards of behavior for the relationship between customers, suppliers, workers, competitors, companies and shareholders.
ANEOP’s president, Filipe Soares Franco noted that the document “is not a penal code” and that the “only admissible way of rewarding or sanctioning,” would be “the recognition of all the partners.”
The document covers all areas of company involvement, namely ethics and corporate governance, which implies, “respect for the law and market criteria.”
The document, which is the result of a target set out a year and a half ago by the association, is open to all companies, even if they are not affiliated to ANEOP. (macauhub)
