Beijing, China, 25 Jan – China’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) totaled US$2.7 trillion in 2006, posting annual growth of 10.7 percent, provisional figures published Thursday in Beijing by the national Statistics Department showed.
The growth seen in 2006 was 0.3 percentage points higher than in 2005. Recently China increased its figure for GDP growth in 2005 to 10.4 percent, from the 9.9 percent previously published.
The primary, secondary and tertiary sectors of the economy generated wealth of 2.47 trillion yuan, 10.2 trillion yuan and 8.27 trillion yuan, respectively, with the secondary sector growing 12.5 percent.
The Consumer Prince Index posted growth of 1.5 percent and the urban unemployment rate remained at 4.1 percent, 0.1 percentage points lower than the year-ago figure. (macauhub)
