Luanda, Angola, 29 Jan – Chevron, through its Cabgoc subsidiary, and Angolan state energy firm Sonangol have announced a recent oil discovery in deepwater Bloc 14 in Angola.
The Lucapa-1 well was discovered after an initial test drilling and geological and technical studies are now being carried out to estimated its reserves, according to a statement released Friday by the two companies.
Lucapa-1 is the tenth discovery in Bloc 14 since 1997 and was drilled at around 3,340 meters depth.
Block 14 is operated by Chevron, with Sonangol, ENI, Total and Portugal’s Galp being the other partners in the venture. (macauhub)
