Angola aims to hold world diamond summit in Luanda

Luanda, Angola, 6 March – The Angolan government began its campaign Monday in Toronto, Canada, to hold the World Diamond Summit in Luanda in November 2008, Angolan news agency Angop reported.

For the campaign launch, an Angolan delegation traveled to Canada made up of representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Relations, Ministry of Geology and Mines, as well as staff from the Angolan national diamond company, Endiama.

The campaign was made official by the deputy minister to the prime minister, Aguinaldo Jaime, at a ceremony held in the Toronto Metro Convention Center, where the annual conventions of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) has been held since Sunday.

During the session Jaime presented a profile of the diamond sector in Angola and provided information about the Association of African Diamond Producing Countries. (macauhub)
