Macau, China, 2 April – Macau’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) posted real growth of 16.6 percent in 2006, and was estimated at 114.36 billion patacas the Statistics and Census Bureau said in Macau Friday.
According to the Bureau, per capita GDP stood at 227,508 patacas, or US$28,436.
In the fourth quarter of 2006, Macau’s GDP posted growth of 20.1 percent year on year, as the figures for the first, second and third quarters were revised to 18.8, 16.6 and 10.8 percent, respectively.
Growth of the economy in 2005 was revised upwards from 6.7 percent to 6.9 percent.
In 2006, Macau’s economic development was driven by and increase in gaming and gambling revenues, which rose 22 percent year on year, investment, which rose 39.5 percent, visitors, which increased by 17.6 percent and private spending, which rose 8.2 percent. (macauhub)
