16 April 2007

Luanda, Angola, 16 April – Angolan airline TAAG is awaiting official documentation from the United Kingdom to launch a Luanda/London flight, which is expected to happen by the end of this month, the company’s commercial director said in Luanda Friday.

José Venancio told Angolan news agency Angop that the route to London would be run once a week at an initial stage.

As well as London, the commercial director of TAAG said that the company was also preparing flights from Luanda to Dubai, expected to open in October, and Luanda/Frankfurt and Luanda/China.

In terms of internal flights, TAAG re-launched its Luanda/Luena route Sunday, after seven years.

During that seven-year period, the airport of Luena received military flights and others from Angolan airline Air Gemini.

The re-launch of the Luanda/Saurimo route is scheduled for Wednesday, which was closed four years ago due to the poor condition of its runway. (macauhub)
