17 April 2007

Luanda, Angola, 17 April ‘ the ornamental stone sub-sector in Angola posted turnover of US$15 million with an estimated production of 45,000 cubic meters, Angola’s deputy minister for Geology and Mines, Makenda Ambroise said Monday in Luanda.

The deputy minister, who was speaking during a seminar on Italian technology as part of the commemorations for Angolan mining day, to be held on April 27, said that production, mainly of granite and marble, had mainly been ensured by the provinces in the south of the country, particularly Huila and Namibe.

According to the deputy minister, these results had been possible due to the program for revitalization of the ornamental stones sub-sector, which was approved in 2003.

The seminar on “Italian Technology” aimed to boost relations between Angolan and Italian companies and present the potential of that European company in terms of new technologies. (macauhub)
