Lisbon, Portugal, 11 May – Setting up a special partnership between Cape Verde and the European Union “is a long process” which is likely to take a few years, Cape Verde’s Prime Minister, José Maria das Neves said in Lisbon Thursday.
The head of the Cape Verdean government was speaking to the press after a meeting with his Portuguese counterpart, José Sócrates, with whom he discussed boosting bilateral cooperation.
Neves said that although advances had been made in the special partnership with the European Union, during the German presidency of the EU, Cape Verde hopes that during the Portuguese presidency (in the second half of this year) “there will be an enormous drive.”.
During his stay in Portugal, Neves will take part in the 7th “Global Travel and Tourism” summit, at the invitation of the Portuguese prime minister. (macauhub)
