Bissau, Guinea Bissau, 22 May – Guinea Bissau has received a one-off donation from France of 300,000 euros, the office of the Guinean prime minister, Martinho N’Dafa Cabi, said Monday in Bissau.
The donation was announced by the French ambassador to Guinea Bissau, Jean-François Parrot, during a meeting with the Guinean prime minister, in which he said he would support the efforts of the new government to re-establish the country’s credibility, the statement said.
The statement said that this was the first gesture by the newly-appointed government of French president, Nicolas Sarkozy to an African country and aims to encourage the international community.
At the end of last year France provided a one-off donation of 500,000 euros to the Guinean government, then led by Aristides Gomes. (macauhub)
