Maputo, Mozambique, 30 May – Italy is to contribute 890,000 euros to the costs of the 3rd Mozambican population census, which is to be held in the first half of August, Mozambican newspaper Notícias reported.
Italy’s contribution will be used, amongst other things, for preparing the publications that will serve to disseminate the results of the census.
The publications are brochures for the public and will have a print run of 41,000 copies and other more detailed publications, with tables and data analysis on a national, provincial, district and local level.
Last week, the European Commission (EC) announced it would contribute 11 million euros (around US$14 million) to the costs of the census, which is expected to cost a total of US$34 million.
The Mozambican government will contribute US$4.6 million and, as well as the EC, the World Bank, Great Britain and Ireland and the United States Development Agency are contributing to the program. (macauhub)
